Kayyur Cheemeni Grama Panchayat is a prominent local body in the Nileswaram block of Hosdurg taluk of Kasaragod district. It is a panchayat of great historical and cultural importance. This panchayat is spread over an area of about 72.70 square kilometers. The villages of Kayyur, Cheemeni, Timiri and Klaikode come under the jurisdiction of this panchayat.

History of Kayyur Cheemeni Grama Panchayat

Kayyur Cheemeni Grama Panchayat is a place that has been written in golden letters in the revolutionary history of Kerala. It is also a place that gave birth to brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives fighting against imperialism and feudalism. Kayyur, where the legendary struggle of farmers led by the communist movement against feudalism is a place that will always be remembered on the map of Kerala. Kayyur is the epicenter of many events and sacrifices. The harvest strike in which about a hundred women participated, the harvest strike in which women had to go to court for the first time, and the Kayyur strike that literally made the slogan "Every farmer belongs to the farmers' union" a reality, still raise vivid memories among the masses.
